We're HOME! :)

we just arrived home to both grandma's waiting in the driveway...the man already seems to be liking home better than the NICU. last night we stayed in the hospital with him, was an interesting night sleep for matt and i (our real taste of waking up, changing diapers, feeding and putting him back to bed). we'll write more later - just wanted to let everyone know he passed everything with flying colors. thanks for all your support throughout this past week...what a ride!

1 week old

grandpa bernie holding brev...

it's a boy cigar along with a nice coldy...
last night while they were performing a sleep study on little brev, came back perfect! :)

brev is 1 week old today! this time last week we were in labor :) quite a rollercoaster ride we've been on this past week, the hardest but best week of my life! he's still progressing along very nicely. apparently, he eats quite a darn bit, and has gas and burps like a truck driver. the nurse could hear him from across the room :) great! i'll have another stinky boy around the house. there running a few more test on him just to make sure he's safe to be released. once they confirm, he's clear - we'll stay the night in the hospital unsupervised with him (no monitors, etc.) and he should be ready to roll...(we hope). here are a few recent pics of the little man!

first time sucking on his thumb! the wires are a bit intimidating but they are all gone now...

update on Brevik Fynn Hill

and the name is... :) Brevik. it's matt's mother maiden name. we intially loved the name, but then other fun ones kept coming up. however, after seeing him, loving him - Brevik was the only name that suited him. we'll probably call him Brev for short?? or he'll have about 1oo nicknames like his older brother cooper has!

we've been going over every day to the nicu. the facility is unbelievable in terms of technology and staff. we feel extremely grateful brev is in such great hands. he's breathing on his own, i've been able to breastfeed a few different times (never knew what a powerful moment that would be in my life, wow!), doing "kangroo care", changing diapers, tempature readings, etc.. kangroo care is where there is only skin to skin contact between the baby and parent. it's suppose to help with recovery, feeding and connection. we got him set up on some classical lullabye music in his little condo, given to him by his aunt and uncle. again, it's suppose to help with recovery. they believe now he'll be able to join us at our home on either wednesday or thursday. we can't WAIT! ( i apologizie in advance for any grammar errors - i'm running on zero sleep and energy!)

please keep the positive prayers and energy down this way!!!

suprise!!! suprise!!!

the following insert is the email i sent out to family and friends about Brevik's arrival:

hi everyone, well, baby hill decided to join the world 3 weeks early! :) on tuesday am, i had a few different episodes of water leakage. we went into our OB and she sent us home because the test came back negative for amniotic fluid. however, the day got progressively worse in regards to water leakage and finally we wentinto the birthing center at the hospital at 5 pm and the test came back positive it was in deed amniotic fluid. we had a VERY long labor, 19 hours total. BUT, thank the lord for the epidural, i didn't feel a thing until the last 45 minutes. i pushed for about 20 minutes and out came our precious baby at 6.6 lbs @ 12:45 pm. matt was able to assist in the delivery, it was amoment he'll never forget. being baby decided to come early, his lungs weren't fully developed, which caused for a pretty hard moment in our life. they rushed him out immediately to the (neonatal intensive unit) by ambulance to Medford. we weren't able to ride in the ambulance so we trailed behind...so, needless to say, we were exhausted from being awake all night, giving birth and then finding out this information. it's rare they discharge mothers so soon (3 hours afterbirth), but i was pretty adamant that i needed to be with my baby. our littleman is in the best hands and he's doing wonderful over there!!!! he's now breathing on his own, took his first big potties (matt changed the diaper, was pretty icky), and slowly opening his eyes. we're hoping tomorrow i'll get to start breastfeeding him, and he'll be out of there shortly.until then, we plan on spending all our free time over there. it's probably going to be 8-14 days until he's released. i hope your all doing well! i can't wait for you all to meet him! the doctor said this am "do you have anyone in your family that is asian???", replying No! we joked yesterday about him looking asian as well...

36 weeks!!!

hola,

the hill clan had an eventful last two weeks. we started off last weekend by traveling by motorhome with my whole family to lake tahoe. on our way down, the tire blew in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE - and by the grace of god, we had a guy come and change our tire. he was a rancher, so had every tool you could imagine in his rig. my grandparents were SO worried it would put me into labor (let's just say the tire blow, really stressed them out...and they thought i was going through the same stress, not the case). anyway, we went to a celebrity golf tourney at edgewood country club - saw just about every star possible (MJ, Charles Barkley, Tony Romo, Jessica Simpson, Jerry Rice). next year baby hill will be able to see everyone in real life :)! we snuck into the Journey and Heart concert - was amazing...lot of matt and i's love songs back in the day! we returned home on sunday and i took off to Portland for a baby shower put on by my dear friend, Katie Jeremiah. was SO nice visiting with the ladies...wish it had been longer. i was pretty pooped by wednesday evening! we have doctor appointments each week from here on out...the boy is still head down and i'm dilated to 1 cm. (which i could be this way for quite awhile, or not)!

i've attached a few photo's of this weekend as well. matt and i took our new raft down the rogue with cooper. cooptown loved it!!! we plan to train him to be a "river dog", and eventually he'll be able to join on family rafting and fishing trips. (he likes to jump out and chase fish, or just get himself wet in dangerous areas)!

hope this blog finds everyone in good spirits! ciao.

35 weeks!!!

hello,
i'm afraid i'm already beginning to see a trend with making time to do the blog...my goal was to do each week, missed last week already, whoops! :) we had matt's brother's in town from berkeley and san diego, and my precious sister in-law that is due the same day - Aug.14th. we had an action packed weekend...and i'm finally feeling REALLY exhausted from all the activities. the little monkey man was a trooper - went on a beautiful bike ride, rafted down the river, attend his first baby shower hosted by matt's mom (matt's mom's friends attended the shower for Katie and I), helped his aunt and uncle move (there moving to boston for Ryan to work on a research project), hosted a 4th of July BBQ and had kea and lorrin in town too! so yesterday, was our first day to REST. i find myself full of energy in the day, and just about worthless by night. yesterday i had slight contractions all day, aka - braxton hicks contractions (i hope). we went to the doctor last friday, and everything is still looking great. we're going to tahoe on wednesday night and she advised me to get a copy of my prenatal flow chart because "you just never know" and especially with the altitude change, it could speed up the whole process! it's a strange but awesome feeling to know, we're right around the corner...cheers!
